THE DAVID GEFFEN Â GALLERIESÂ
AT THE LACMA
It took roughly six years of actual physical construction to build the new David Geffen Galleries at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), with construction kicking off in 2020 and the building opening in April 2026. The entire enterprise spanned nearly 20 years of total development, beginning around 2009 when LACMA first started working with architect Peter Zumthor, then unveiling the initial design in 2013.
